	ISO Certifications - Commitment to Quality

		The Doe Run Company’s Resource Recycling Division is proud to operate the world’s largest recycling lead smelter (also called a secondary smelter). The operation removes lead from lead-acid batteries, spent ammunition, lead-lined

picture tubes and computer screens, and other lead-bearing material. The facility then recycles the lead into finished lead and lead alloy so it can be used as raw material in new products.

Additional materials, such as plastics recovered by the recycling process, are separated and sent to other recycling companies for further processing.

In 2003, the Resource Recycling Division of the Doe Run Company attained the ISO 14001 Environmental Standard, earning a Certificate of Registration from the third-party environmental auditing firm, SRI International. The certification recognizes the facility’s environmental safeguards, procedures and management systems.

For its business-to-business operations and quality management systems such as internal office procedures, record-keeping and customer service, the Resource Recycling Division also achieved ISO 9001 certification. ISO 9001 is a nationally and internationally recognized symbol of a company’s dedication to superior quality, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.
